The Department of Environmental Quality (DEQ) is seeking qualified candidates for the position of Standards and Specifications Coordinator. This position will review standards and specifications for Erosion and Sediment Control and Stormwater Management in accordance with applicable laws and regulations; provide technical/regulatory assistance to Central and Regional Office staff, general public, permittees, consultants, state and federal agencies, and private entities. The Standards and Specifications Coordinator will also review Erosion and Sediment Control Plans, Stormwater Management Plans and Construction Record Drawings; and will assist with the review of Environmental Assessments and Environmental Impact Statements.

Minimum Qualifications
- Considerable knowledge of Federal/State Environmental Laws and Regulations and Virginia Erosion and Stormwater Management (VESM) regulations.
- Knowledge of engineering principles.
- Knowledge of project management.
- Knowledge of computer operations.
- Demonstrated ability to solve problems independently.
- Demonstrated ability to communicate both verbally and in writing.
- Ability to work effectively and productively with diverse groups of people and with little direct supervision.
Additional Considerations
- In lieu of experience, relevant coursework from an accredited college or university in an engineering, or physical science discipline containing hydraulic or soils’ principles, or in another technical field relating to land development is acceptable.
- Relevant coursework in site design, soils, hydrology, surveying, and/or environmental law is also acceptable.
- Experience in working with local governments, design engineers, consultants, or land development industry professionals is acceptable in lieu of relevant coursework.
