Job Duties
The Virginia Department of Health is seeking a team member to perform a combination of duties in the support of Environmental Health in the Commonwealth. This is a partially grant funded, full-time position supporting the Office of Environmental Health Services - Division of Shellfish Safety and Waterborne Hazards. Job duties will include but are not limited to regulatory, programmatic, and grant management activities associated with the Marina Program and its administration, along with other duties as assigned.
The Environmental Health Coordinator for the Marina Regulatory Program ensures that the Sanitary Regulations for Marinas and Boat Moorings are implemented; provides technical assistance to district health and other entities, co-evaluates proposed marina operating plans, ensures annual inspections of marina establishments statewide are completed annually; and supports joint enforcement actions by local, state and federal agencies. Develops annual applications in addition to administering, monitoring, and reporting for program activities and manages budgeting and financial reporting of the CVA federal grant. Conducts oversight and training of pumpout programs and facilitates boating outreach education that aligns with agency strategic plans and goals. Supports development, monitoring, performance reporting, and amendments of the BIG federal grant when VDH is the state entity managing the grant and for all VDH administered post-implementation projects. Performs periodic reviews of and participates in revision of regulations and policies when necessary. Serves as the lead technical expert for the Marina Program agency wide.
Minimum Qualifications
- Considerable knowledge in instructional design and implementation of adult learning principles, practices and methodologies, needs assessment and evaluation methodologies, and training administration
- Considerable knowledge and experience in the principles and methods of environmental health
- Extensive knowledge of use of data, database management, data quality assurance (QA) techniques, statistical analysis, informatics methods
- Requires the ability to work effectively, ability to prepare and present concise reports, presentations and to write and speak effectively
- Overnight travel may be required
