This is a grant funded restricted position. The availability of funding is scheduled for review annually. Continued employment is contingent on the continued availability of grant or non-general funds.

Crater Health District, part of the Virginia Department of Health (VDH), serves a diverse region in south-central Virginia. As a WIC Nutritionist Associate, you will have the opportunity to connect with the community and provide vital services to clients in a variety of settings. Your responsibilities will include conducting nutritional assessments, determining eligibility, providing nutrition education, and supporting clients in achieving their health goals. You may also support emergency operations when needed. Please note, the incumbent will be required to travel throughout the district as needed to serve our diverse communities.
This position requires the Competent Professional Authority (CPA) training be completed within six (6) months of hire.

Minimum Qualifications
- Basic knowledge of nutrition and nutritional standards
- Ability to conduct interviews and collect information
- Ability to interpret, document, calculate, and compile routine data
- Experience providing client education and/or communicating information to individuals
- Good communication skills, verbally and in writing
- Ability to work effectively individually and as a team member
- Experience multi-tasking and prioritizing workloads
- Skills using computer systems
Additional Considerations
- Training, job experience, or coursework in Nutrition, Dietetics, food services, or a related area preferred
- Bilingual in Spanish and English preferred
- Experience obtaining blood samples/finger sticks, and taking heights and weights of individuals
