Job Duties
The Financial Aid Counselor reporting to the Associate Director of Client Services serves as the student's primary contact for the Financial Aid office.
The incumbent will :
- Work with newly admitted students and families as well as current students to help them navigate the financial aid process, and to ensure they understand their federal and state aid, and merit scholarships.
- Counsel and advise students about financial aid eligibility, application procedures, aid programs, costs, and indebtedness.
- Counsel students regarding budgeting, loan management, satisfactory academic process, and other special circumstances.
- Collect and analyze files to make informed decisions for professional judgment and satisfactory academic progress (SAP).
- Ensure compliance with all financial aid policies, procedures, and regulations when reviewing financial aid applications.
- Exercise judgment when interpreting federal and state regulations for student situations.
- Participate in presentations and workshops on financial aid-related issues.
