Job Duties

This position reports to Education Administrator III / Director of Behavior Analysis. The Behavioral Assessment Administrator is responsible for the coordination of intake assessments to residents upon commitment to direct care. Coordinates closely with the CAP Counseling Team incorporating the agency's practice model (risk, need, responsivity) to ensure placement in the least restrictive environment and provide information to guide initial treatment and behavior intervention plans. Additionally, this position is responsible for the supervision of the Behavioral Assessment Specialists, and Behavioral Assessment Coordinator.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Graduate degree from a college or university in the social sciences or related discipline
  • Holds a current license that meets requirements as a Licensed Mental Health Professional in the state of Virginia
  • Experience supervising the completion of intake assessments and subsequent reports
  • Extensive experience providing clinical supervision and oversight of licensed and / or certified staff
  • Knowledge of evidence-based trauma informed juvenile justice programming components spanning initial intake to re-entry
  • Considerable knowledge of adolescent development
  • Extensive knowledge of juvenile psychological assessments, treatment, and evaluations
  • Demonstrated ability to work and communicate effectively with a wide range of service providers involved with the care and treatment of high-risk adolescents
  • Ability to adhere to regulatory timelines
  • Strong reasoning, analytical, and communication skills.
  • Attention to detail, patience, and perseverance
  • Ability to be empathetic and emotionally stable when providing support to staff and youth
  • Experience providing and receiving direct performance feedback
  • Effective oral and written communication skills
  • The ability to work effectively with residents, families, Court Service Units and other DJJ personnel
  • The ability to work effectively with community partners, Regional Service Coordinators, and outside providers
  • Understanding of confidentiality and professionalism as it pertains to DJJ policies and procedures
  • Knowledge of the Department's practice model, (YASI-risk, need, responsivity) and how to use the tool to work effectively with juveniles

Additional Considerations

  • Certification by the Virginia Department of Health Professions as a sex offender treatment provider (CSOTP) and or a substance abuse counselor (CSAC)
  • Experience managing and serving as an administrator for behavioral health services for high-risk youth in a correctional or rehabilitative environment
  • Ability to interpret and develop policies, goals and strategies related to behavioral intake assessments
  • Licensed Clinical Psychologist, or Doctorate of Psychology
