Job Duties
VDOT's Staunton District Winchester Area Headquarters is seeking a highly qualified Maintenance Supervisor to oversee and perform a variety of simple to complex roadway maintenance activities as well as supervise a crew and provide technical guidance to crew members performing maintenance activities and equipment operation. As the qualified candidate, you will :
- Develop and plan work schedules, assigns daily tasks, and monitor work performed to ensure safe, efficient and timely completion of projects.
- Inspect and document performance of contractors to ensure contract compliance.
- Review road conditions to determine repair needs and ensures work is completed.
Investigate and respond to complaints.

NOTE : All drivers hired without a valid CDL in hand are required to obtain their CDL within 11 months of their hire date. You cannot operate commercial motor vehicles prior to receiving the necessary licensure and medical certification. Effective February 7, 2022, new Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA) regulations require entry-level drivers (drivers who are seeking to take the skills test in order to obtain a CDL for the first time, upgrade their CDL from a Class A to a Class B, or take the knowledge test to obtain a hazardous materials endorsement for the first time) to complete FMCSA- approved Entry-Level Driving (ELD) Training before the Department of Motor Vehicles can grant the requested CDL or endorsement. The course is comprised of 160 hours, on average, of training. VDOT is willing to assist with your enrollment in and payment for the course.
