About the Position :

The Virginia State Police (VSP) is seeking to hire a Process Improvement Analyst in our Criminal Justice Information Services Division at our Administrative Headquarters in North Chesterfield, Virginia. The successful candidate will identify, document, and improve business workflows and processes using Lean Six Sigma principles; develop Suppliers, Inputs, Process, Outputs, and Customers (SIPOC), Swimlane Diagrams, Waste Identification Worksheets, and Improvement Opportunity Logs; development of approved standardized documents to include Process Memo, Process Hierarchy, Procedure Documents and Job Aids as well as training and alignment activities; identify root cause of problems, defects or inefficiencies within an assigned process or project; provide process owners and process managers with guidance and coaching in using tools and documents developed; participate in strategic planning activities to analyze process maturity and identifies improvement opportunities; collaborate effectively with teams to develop visual dashboards in relation to the identified metrics; and provide ongoing support to process owners and managers in the use of dashboards and metrics to drive improvement within processes.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Working knowledge of Lean Six Sigma principles and processes; and of continuous improvement data collection and data mining.
  • Skill in operating a computer and using Microsoft Office applications, with proficiency in the use of Excel, Power Point and Visio software.
  • Demonstrated ability to review, document and improve business processes using Lean Management principles; to use interpersonal skills to lead teams in group work sessions; to follow oral and written instructions, paying close attention to detail; to work independently and as a member of a team; and to communicate orally and in writing in English with members of the judicial system, law enforcement agencies, employees, and the public.
  • Experience in Microsoft Office Excel program and data analysis techniques.
  • Experience leading and facilitating working group sessions.
  • Knowledge of Lean Six Sigma principles and processes.
  • High School Diploma or GED equivalent.

Additional Considerations

  • Criminal justice experience preferred.
  • Lean Six Sigma Yellow Belt Certification preferred.
  • Knowledge of criminal record information systems preferred.
