About the Agency :
The Virginia Department of Military Affairs is a Commonwealth of Virginia state agency that provides professional and responsive support functions to the Adjutant General of Virginia, the Virginia National Guard, the Virginia Air Guard, and the Virginia Defense Force in order to ensure their ability to support and defend the United States and the Commonwealth of Virginia.
The mission of the Virginia National Guard Commonwealth ChalleNGe Youth Academy is to intervene in the lives of 16-18 year old teenagers by providing the values, skills, education, and self-discipline needed to produce responsible, productive citizens, and to do so in a highly structured learning environment.
Purpose of Position :
Responsible for coordinating and managing the training of the Commonwealth ChalleNGe Youth Academy (CCYA) staff, ensuring that all training (State and Federal) requirements are met per the Chief of the National Guard Bureau Manual (CNGBM). Responsible for managing the staff use of the national online learning management system, maintaining training files and documentation on all staff members, overseeing the staff training schedule, scheduling certified staff trainers to conduct required training, and developing and / or providing additional supplemental training as required by State and local requirements, and as directed by the Program Director.
Minimum Qualifications
- Ability to communicate efficiently and effectively both verbal and written, interpret regulations and exercise judgment in enforcing rules and regulations;
- Ability to execute full training cycle from planning to execution;
- Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite;
- Demonstrated ability to conduct research and put results of the research in a useable document / training format;
- Capability to develop Team Building activities / curriculum;
- Ability to pass a physical fitness test administered to Cadre and able to lead PT;
- Able to work different shifts as needed to include weekends;
- Ability to execute a full training cycle from planning and development through to implementation;
- Ability to organize and present training to for any size group of participants (adults and youth);
- Ability to develop and / or capture lessons learned from After Action Review(s) (AARs) / feedback session and convert into productive training;
- Ability to collaborate as a team and across departments to prioritize training goals and ensure training consistency;
- Ability to develop and maintain a training documentation system;
Must have a valid Virginia Driver's License with an acceptable driving record.
Additional Considerations
Certified CPR / First Aid / AED instructor preferred.

Commercial Driver's License (CDL) Class B with Passenger endorsement required within eleven (11) months of hire.
