A commercial laundry equipment installation technician is responsible for installing, maintaining, and repairing large-scale laundry equipment, such as washers, dryers, and other related machines, in commercial settings like laundromats, hotels, hospitals, industrial and large apartment complexes.
Key Responsibilities:
- Installation:
- Perform the functions of delivery, installation, start-up, operation, and other duties as required to ensure customer satisfaction following company standards, techniques, and safety requirements.
- Connect plumbing, electrical, and mechanical systems to ensure the machines operate correctly.
- Ensure all equipment complies with safety regulations and manufacturer instructions.
- Maintenance:
- Perform routine maintenance on laundry equipment, including cleaning, lubricating, and testing machines.
- Troubleshoot and repair equipment malfunctions.
- Replace parts and components as needed to ensure equipment functions properly.
- Customer Service:
- Interact with clients to understand their needs, provide recommendations, and offer solutions.
- Educate clients on proper equipment use and maintenance procedures.
- Technical Skills:
- Work with specialized tools and diagnostic equipment to troubleshoot electrical, plumbing, and mechanical issues.
- Keep accurate records of services performed, parts replaced, and other relevant details.
- Overall Duties and Responsibilities:
- Operate forklift trucks, pallet jacks.
- Drive company vehicle and trailer.
- Load/unload delivery trucks/trailers.
- Management of materials necessary for installations.
- Monitor all tools, equipment, and supplies for installations.
- Always maintain a clean and safe job site.
- Responsible for upkeep and maintenance on work vehicle.
- Adhere to DOT regulations and maintain safe driving standards while driving company owned vehicle and trailer.
- Complete jobs in an efficient manner and that are of high quality.
- Perform other duties as requested.
- Safety Compliance:
- Adhere to safety standards and regulations during installations and repairs.
- Ensure equipment meets environmental and operational safety requirements.
Skills and Qualifications:
- Technical knowledge: Expertise in plumbing, electrical systems, and mechanical systems with an emphasis on strong mechanical and electrical skills. Overall mechanical skills that can be applied to commercial washers and dryers.
- Problem-solving: Ability to diagnose and repair issues quickly and efficiently.
- Attention to detail: Accuracy in installation and repair work to ensure equipment operates optimally.
- Customer service: Good communication skills to explain complex technical issues in a simple way.
- Physical stamina: Ability to lift and move heavy equipment and work in various conditions (e.g., tight spaces, high noise levels).
Education and Training:
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Manufacturer service schools will be available to attend for specific training.
- Comfortable operating forklifts, pallet jacks, driving company truck and trailer.
- On-the-job training: Many technicians gain skills through apprenticeships or work experience.
