Position Summary
We are seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented individual to join our OSP team as a Construction Field Engineer. This individual will be responsible for supporting various aspects of project management, including contractor work inspections, safety audits and pre-construction surveys, invoicing, and other administrative duties. This role requires strong communication skills, attention to detail, and the ability to multitask effectively.
Construction Field Engineer critical responsibilities:
- Conduct thorough inspections of contractor work to ensure adherence to quality standards and specifications.
- Assist in conducting safety audits to ensure compliance with WAP.
- Address any safety concerns or violations at our work sites in a timely manner.
- Perform QC on production reports and contractor invoices for accuracy and compliance and maintain proper documentation.
- Assist with administrative duties including contract street sheet collection and distribution, productivity tracking, material consumption and permit tracking.
- Verify as-built drawings, designs and documentation prior to issuing contractors to ensure accuracy and completeness.
- Assist in conducting surveys of project sites before construction begins to gather relevant data and assess potential challenges.
- Monitor status on construction jobs to ensure timely completion.
- Support cabinet site surveys as needed while documenting and communicating observations.
- Handle customer complaints and incidents promptly and professionally, documenting details and following up as necessary.
- Provide assistance in addressing VDOT and PCI violations, while ensuring prompt resolution and compliance.
- Attending conferences and team meetings as required, providing support and contributing insights.
Qualifications of a strong candidate:
- 3 years of experience in telecommunications construction field experience (aerial and underground).
- Ability to manage the administrative tasks of multiple projects simultaneously in various stages.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with strict timelines.
- Experience verifying as-built drawings, designs and conducting pre-construction site surveys and the ability to read schematics is preferred.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with strict timelines while still being adaptable.
- Strong computer skills and proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite?and project management software.
- Excellent interpersonal, analytical, organizational, prioritization, and critical thinking skills.
- Ability to walk and or stand for more than 4 hours a day.
- Requires in-state/same day travel up to 70%.
- Must pass a pre-employment background and drug check.
- Must have a valid driver's license and meet company driving standards.
- Ability to lift 50 lbs.
