What are the responsibilities and job description for the Testing Proctor position at Virginia Germanna Community College?
Germanna Community College is seeking a part-time Testing Services academic test proctor. The position provides essential services to students, faculty, and visitors in a friendly, professional manner; performs various clerical/administrative tasks to support the testing centers’ efficient daily operations; and supports student/campus initiatives, events, and other campus departments as needed. The proctor provides top-notch customer service, answers the telephone, and replies to emails. This position is currently remote. When the campus reopens, it will be based at the Fredericksburg Campus, with travel to the other locations required when necessary.
Job Duties:
- Securely administers and proctors computerized and written exams including, but not limited to, academic course exams, HESI, TEAS, KAPLAN, computer competency tests, placement tests, and exams for other Virginia Community Colleges
- Provides administrative support by creating professional and courteous correspondences between test vendors, examinees, faculty, staff, and students
- Generates daily reports; researches student records; files paperwork; enters research data in Excel; and completes daily task reports
- Provides consistent information on testing policies and procedures to students, faculty, and other current and prospective examinees
- Secures and maintains testing information; accurate records; and files documents
- Provides excellent customer service and provides requested information or refers to the appropriate department
- Ensures all computers have the appropriate software for each test

Minimum Qualifications
- Associate degree or equivalent education and experience
- Customer service experience in a high-volume environment with an ability to handle stressful situations
- Experience working with a diverse student population
- Extensive computer experience to include Microsoft Office—Outlook, Word & Excel specifically
- The ability to work independently and as a team
- Excellent organization and prioritization skills
- Strong attention to detail
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
- Ability to learn applications quickly
- Flexible work schedule to include evenings and Saturdays
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor degree or equivalent experience
- Experience working in a higher education setting
- Experience working in testing centers
- Knowledge of Canvas
