Essential Duties and Qualifications
Virginia Health Services is hiring a Certified Medical Assistant at York Nursing & Rehabilitation Center, a Long Term Care and Rehab Center located in Yorktown, VA!
The Certified Medical Assistant has the following responsibilities:
- Promoting and demonstrating exceptional customer service, including greeting residents and visitors.
- Scheduling and managing patient appointments and transportation.
- Maintaining a safe and clean work environment while complying with facility policy, regulations and current infection control practices.
- Effectively communicating with providers and their staff, insurance companies, and families related to non-nursing matters.
- Assisting in preparing, organizing and filing documents in medical charts, both paper and electronic format. (ex. Lab results, admissions, discharge, and transportation related documents)
- Organizing and maintaining medical supplied on the nursing units, cleaning and disinfecting medical equipment.
- Understanding and assisting with staffing procedures.
- Answering and directing phone calls.
- Carrying out clinical tasks such as obtaining vital signs or glucometer checks.
- Appropriately documenting in resident's medical records.
- Performing other duties as assigned.
Qualifications and Requirements:
- High school diploma or equivalent degree is required.
- Medical Assistant certification required.
- Knowledge of medical terminology.
- Healthcare facility experience is preferred.
- Basic computer skills, knowledge of Microsoft Windows and Office.
- Ability to read, write, analyze, and interpret information,
- Experience maintaining a professional level of patient privacy in accordance with HIPPA procedures.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills when speaking with patients, facility staff, and visitors, and physicians.
- Risk of exposure to bloodborne pathogens and hazardous materials, must abide by infection control standards including wearing required PPE.
