Essential Duties and Qualifications
The Charge Nurse reports to the Director of Nursing and is responsible for directing, assessing, planning and evaluating resident care.
Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities:
- Assesses the resident’s physical and emotional status and implements appropriate nursing interventions.
- Obtains and transcribes orders according to resident needs.
- Directs and supervises nursing personnel on unit.
- Assures accuracy, timeliness and completeness of documentation.
- Administers medication and treatments in absence of medication nurse.
- Monitors and manages systems as assigned by the Director of Nursing.
- Promotes and demonstrates positive customer service towards VHS, co-workers, residents and visitors. • Complies with all established policies and procedures
- Assumes duties at any Virginia Health Services unit/facility as required.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Qualifications and Requirements:
- Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing and holds current Virginia license.
- Experience/education in Gerontological Nursing required.
- Computer knowledge preferred.
- Ability to read, write, analyze, and interpret information.
- While performing the essential functions of this job, the employee is regularly required to walk, turn, bend, stoop, lift, push, pull, reach, talk, hear, taste and smell.
- Must be able to lift, push, pull and move up to 50 pounds.
- Risk of exposure to blood borne pathogens and hazardous materials.
