The Custodian performs a variety of duties in the facility and surrounding grounds under the supervision of the Administrator/designee.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Repairs and maintains facility equipment
- Maintains facility floors
- Installs new equipment
- Maintain facilities lighting
- Drives company van when assigned
- Collects, transports and disposes of linen and trash, ensuring proper handling and disposal (excluding regulated medical waste)
- Maintains equipment and equipment storage closets in a clean, safe, and orderly manner
- Ensures all chemicals are stored/disposed of and/or used safely
- Performs preventive maintenance.
- Complies with all established policies and procedures.
- Promote and demonstrate positive customer service towards VHS, co-workers, residents, family members and visitors.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
- Must be able to perform the above stated essential duties and responsibilities.
Qualifications and Requirements:
- Knowledge of operation of various machines and equipment and general maintenance procedures.
- Valid Driver's license in good standing.
- Computer knowledge preferred.
- Ability to read, write, analyze, and interpret information.
- Ability to effectively respond to questions.
- While performing the essential functions of this job, the employee is regularly required to walk, turn, bend, stoop, lift, push, pull, reach, talk, hear, taste and smell.
- Must be able to lift, push, pull and move up to 100 pounds.
- Must be able to perform tasks in inclement weather when needed. Risk of exposure to blood borne pathogens and hazardous materials. 2 weeks working notice is required for voluntary termination of employment.
