The Director of Facility Based Rehab Services will lead the overall operations of rehabilitation in the VHS skilled nursing facilities, assisted living and independent living locations. The leader will manage internal relationships, and will drive organizational growth by identifying opportunities related to the VHS strategic and operational plans. This position will be located in Newport News, VA.
Essential Job Duties:
- Develops staffing metrics to ensure adequate and appropriate staffing levels based on census, clinical needs, and desired outcomes.
- Develops metrics to assess Medicare Part B opportunities, along with performance under capitation arrangements, PDPM, and other emerging payor trends.
- Develops outcomes measures, along with other measures to demonstrate the value proposition for our rehab service line.
- Ensures the VHS Facility Based Rehabilitation service line is meeting all performance metrics for clinical and financial outcomes.
- Utilize industry benchmarking to develop internal benchmarks for quality, efficiency and financial goals.
- Utilize technology and automation to drive performance metrics.
- Develop plans and programs to fully utilize the rehabilitation structure for new opportunities and enhancing current operations.
- Works collaboratively with nursing, Medical Staff representatives, and the interdisciplinary team to improve processes.
- Assists in the development of initial budgets and proformas, in conjunction with the CFO and Controller, for all growth and improvement opportunities.
- Works collaboratively with VHS business unit owners to understand the market, trends, and opportunities which support the overall VHS strategic plan.
- Understands the for-profit environment and implications of various partnerships among for-profit, not-for-profit, and government entities.
- Coordinates effective connections between outside organizations and VHS leadership.
Education Requirements:
- Licensed therapy professional (Physical, Occupational, or Speech Therapist)
- Bachelor’s Degree required with an advanced degree preferred
- Actively licensed in Virginia
Qualifications and Requirements:
- Minimum of 3 years' direct patient care experience and 1 year multi-site management experience required.
- Thorough knowledge of Medicare and third-party billing required.
- Must have good verbal and written communication skills.
- Must possess the ability to make independent decisions and problem solve appropriately.
- Must have thorough knowledge of all state practice acts.
- Must possess the ability to positively interact with Team Members, patients, residents, family members, visitors, government agencies/personnel and general public.
- Must possess the ability to effectively manage and motivate direct reports.
