What are the responsibilities and job description for the Warehouse Clerk position at Virginia Highlands Community College?
VHCC is seeking to hire a full-time Warehouse Clerk to manage and maintain the College’s Storeroom to include receiving, storing, inventorying, requisitioning, and distributing supplies to the campus. The position will keep accurate electronic and physical records. This position will need the ability to successfully work independently and will facilitate effective communication to provide essential administrative support for mailroom, supply room, and procurement for the Business Operations at Virginia Highlands Community College. This position is 8 am until 5 pm Monday through Friday with an hour lunch break.
Responsibilities Include:
- Managing and logging all daily shipping/receiving from USPS, FedEx, UPS and other carriers. This includes maintaining a productive two-way dialogue with delivery drivers. Coordinating and processing all incoming and outgoing shipments with a variety of carriers. This includes maintaining accurate files.
- Coordinating and delivering mail and packages to departments across campus.
- Receiving all deliveries from VHCC’s contracted bookstore, including sorting and logging all deliveries. Notifying recipients of shipments received.
- Managing College’s Central Supply that includes general office supplies for the entire campus, including maintaining inventory of supplies.
- Using eVA (Virginia’s E-procurement System) to place orders for the Supply Room and other purchases to support the Business Office.
- Using safe work practices and always reporting hazardous conditions.
- Managing of Student Employees who will assist in delivery of packages across campus.
- Additional duties may be assigned.
May be required to perform other duties as assigned. May be required to assist the agency or state government generally in the event of an emergency declaration by the Governor.
- High school diploma or GED
- Strong communication skills, including the ability to read, write and verbally communicate, are required for interacting with all levels of the college administration, facility staff, vendors, and carrier representatives.
- Working knowledge of general storeroom and inventory control procedures, inventory recordkeeping.
- Must be able to work independently.
- Ability to maintain accurate records and files.
