The UVA Information Security team at the University of Virginia (UVA) seeks an Information Security Officer (ISO) to join their team. This position supports the UVA Information Security mission by providing leadership to the security operations and security engineering teams. This position is responsible for the acquiring, designing, and implementing security solutions to help detect, protect, and response to security issues. In addition, this position will collaborate with other Information Security leadership, Information Technology Systems (ITS) leadership, and stakeholders throughout the University. The chosen candidate will have broad experience and a proven track record with Information Security tools, concepts, and solution implementation. The ISO will work with the security operations and engineering teams to design, implement, and maintain a broad spectrum of tools and technologies. A successful candidate for this position will have experience leading and managing technical security teams.

This position is remote but occasional on-site visits will be required
What you will do :
- Manage, lead, and mentor the security operations and engineering teams.
The Security Operations Team is comprised of 4 full-time analysts and multiple student workers. They are augmented by an outsourced 24 / 7 SOC.

Education : Bachelor's Degree Required. Equivalent combination of experience, education and / or certifications may be substituted in lieu of degree. Master's Degree Preferred.
Experience : 8 years. Must have experience managing technical security teams. Preferred higher education experience and security operations center experience.
Licensure : None.
