The successful candidate will be expected to :
- Utilize biochemical, molecular, or cellular biology expertise to perform cell-based studies, including immunostaining, fluorescence microscopy, high-content imaging, chemical and genetic screening, gene and protein expression profiling, etc. and to assist in collaborative research with multiple laboratories in the UVA Center for Cancer Systems Biology .
- Document, analyze and evaluate results; identify new research methods and techniques; conduct analysis of data, interpret, and implement research methodology based on outcome of analysis, collaborate, review, and critique data collection of other researchers.
- Demonstrate responsibility for the administrative, personnel and planning aspects of multiple current and future projects; collaborate on the preparation of research proposals, applications for grant funding, and progress reports, and assist with the preparation of manuscripts for publication.
- Train and assist graduate students, research fellows and undergraduate students with material preparations, research techniques, methods and procedures and use of instruments; explain and demonstrate technology and equipment capabilities, operations, limitations, and outcomes in order to help advance the research objectives of the laboratory.
- Education: Bachelor's degree.
- Experience: 4 years of experience. Master's degree may substitute for required experience. 8 years of lab-related experience accepted in lieu of degree.
- M.S. degree in biomedical sciences, biomedical engineering, or a related field , with additional 3 years of lab experience as research technician
- Experience in cancer biology, biochemistry, cell biology or a related filed is required. Demonstrated experience in training and management in the areas of research project and laboratory operations
