The Security Manager is a crucial role within VLPP, tasked with managing the implementation of security protocols and processes for all facilities and personnel in accordance with the agency’s strategic plan, policies, and budget. In partnership with the security team, the manager is responsible for incorporating the security function into the overall operations of the affiliate and for managing crisis response.
This role will be based out of the Virginia Beach location but requires monthly travel to all sites within the affiliate (offices are located in Richmond, Virginia Beach, and Hampton). In the event a health center is experiencing security challenges, this position will be required to be on site to provide support to VLPP staff and patients.
Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities :
- Implement strategic and operational plans to achieve short- and long-term security objectives. Effectively communicate those objectives to VLPP staff.
- Assist in management of affiliate budget for security and manage the affiliate security team.
- Conduct regular review and revision of affiliate security policies, site-specific manuals, and contact information in addition to audits for affiliate compliance with key security policies and the functional capacity of all security equipment at all locations.
- Ensure affiliate compliance with security incident reporting.
- Plan and conduct the security portion of new employee orientation. Schedule security training at all sites on a regular basis.
- Conduct risk assessments for all physical locations as needed, with recommendations for risk mitigation, maintenance, or upgrades as appropriate.
- Partner with other affiliate leaders to keep crisis communication and emergency response plans current and to incorporate security in the planning of affiliate events, meetings, and community interactions.
Experience Required : Minimum of 8 years experience in progressively responsible positions managing organizational security functions, or equivalently complex functional area.
Education / Certification Requirements : Bachelor’s degree or equivalent education and experience in security (CPP, CFE, CIPM, NIMS, etc.).
Additional Qualifications : Ability to clearly and effectively articulate the security needs of the affiliate with line staff, leadership, and law enforcement. Current with trends in security hardware, software and their implementation. Able to design, conduct, and evaluate effective security trainings. Must demonstrate sound judgment under pressure and in a crisis.
Salary : The pay range for this position is between $60,000 - $71,000 annually.

Schedule : Hours may vary. Schedule is primarily Monday - Friday from 8 : 30am - 5pm; however, work outside regular hours may be required, particularly in the supervision of security operations. Instances where this position would be expected to work outside of regular hours may include special events, Security Guard PTO or vacancy, security or facilities emergencies, etc.
