Job Qualifications
- Education: Graduate of an accredited therapy program
- Experience: 2-3 years of related experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience (preferred).
- Licenses/Certifications: Current Occupational Therapist state license; CPR certification
- Works effectively to comply with policies of all VMRC areas. Works collaboratively with team members to meet resident needs across the VMRC campus.
- Effectively works with other members of the VMRC team to provide in-service’s and education to meet individual resident/patient needs according to standard, regulations, gaps in service delivery and initiatives.
- Completes scheduled screenings for SL and AL.
- Address patient’s aspects of performance to support engagement in occupations that affect health, well-being and life quality.
- Select and adapt the appropriate per case occupational therapy treatment model, method and approach to direct the process of interventions.
- Apply interventions to maximize safety and performance in activities of daily living (ADL) and instrumental activities of daily living (IADL).
- Teach patients new ways of approaching tasks and educate them on how to break down activities into achievable components.
- Assess patients’ home and other environments and advise on alterations consistent with their needs and capabilities.
- Recommend adaptive equipment and train in its use.
- Guide and educate family members and caregivers.
- Observe, note, and report on progress of long- and short-term treatment goals.
- Collect data and document processes followed.
- Documents patient care services according to approved medical documentation and facility documentation procedures.
