What are the responsibilities and job description for the Outside Scheduler position at Virginia Oncology Associates?

- Schedules physician referrals and/or outside testing and labs as directed by physician
- Obtains necessary insurance authorization
- Communicates to patients the type of test, any necessary prep, and date/time/location of appointment
- Follows up on all tests to ensure completion prior to next visit with physician
- Researches and responds to routine and non-routine inquiries in a timely and professional manner
- Other duties as assigned
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Five years medical office experience
- Knowledge of medical terminology
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel)

Vision must be correctable to 20/20 and hearing must be in the normal range for telephone contacts. It is necessary to view and type on computer screens for prolonged periods of time.
