Job Description
VHCC is seeking a Clinical and Lab Coordinator to manage clinical and lab coordination for Nursing, Practical Nursing, and Medical Assisting programs.
Duties would include
Clinical Coordination, Instruction, and Scheduling

Job Description
VHCC is seeking a Clinical and Lab Coordinator to manage clinical and lab coordination for Nursing, Practical Nursing, and Medical Assisting programs.
Duties would include
Clinical Coordination, Instruction, and Scheduling
- Coordinate lab, simulation, and clinical placements, and schedules
- Update and maintain current clinical contracts; develop new clinical placements/affiliation agreements.
- Attend ACNEP quarterly meetings and clinical scheduling meetings
- Prepare clinical rosters and ensure rosters are completed and submitted by all clinical faculty at end of the semester
- Assist faculty in coordinating community clinical experiences
- Provide clinical instruction as needed for Nursing and Practical Nursing programs.
- Update and maintain current clinical contracts; develop new clinical placements/affiliation agreements.
- Coordinate clinical placements, students/facility clinical schedules, and maintain clinical contracts
- Assist MA program coordinator to conduct weekly clinical visits for each assigned clinical facility and student rotation (Spring semester)
- Monitor and review clinical requirements for students and communicate deficiencies to students; verify student clinical requirements prior to clinical placements
- Provide skills remediation for current/returning/transfer students and assist Simulation lab faculty with skills check-offs
- Work with at risk students on common student success issues such as time management, study skills, math/dosage calculation skills, test taking, etc.
- Assist Admin assistant with follow up on deficiencies in Viewpoint
- Submit clinical related paperwork to Virginia Board of Nursing (i.e. Exception requests) each semester
- Maintain competence in utilizing clinical management systems; coordinate and manage student and faculty training
- Assist program coordinator with managing clinical and student issues
- Recruit and orient adjunct and preceptor clinical faculty
- Assist in conducting Adjunct and preceptor orientation each semester
- Mentor new adjunct faculty and preceptors
- Work with Dean of Health Programs and Program coordinator to prepare adjunct worksheet and maintain clinical adjunct documentation for contracts
- Verify and document student clinical hours at the end of each semester.
- Assist in medical assisting lab with lab make-up time
- Work with students and program coordinator to document clinical hours completed.
- Conduct student evaluations of clinical experience and share with clinical sites.

KSA's/Required Qualifications
- Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
- At least 2 years of experience working as a registered nurse
- Active, unencumbered Virginia license RN (or multistate license allowing nursing practice in Virginia and Tennessee)
- Communication skills necessary to work with a variety of individuals, organizations, and populations
Preferred
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN)
- Demonstrated experience working with adults in an educational setting
- Experience in a community college setting
- Experience in clinical and lab instruction
