TITLE: Direct Care Staff Job Descriptions (Level lll Group Home for Adolescence)
GENERAL DESCRIPTION_: _
Virginia Group Home . is a that provides services based on the developmental model and the principle of normalization for special needs persons or persons with related conditions, but not limited to these duties.
JOB RESPONSIBILITES:
When on duty, record important information about the residents. Keep accurate data on residents.
Maintain a home-like environment
Administer medication and medical care when needed.
Prepare and serve meals with the help, if applicable, of those residents who are physically able.
Assist in keeping the home clean and laundry done.
Safeguard equipment and supplies in the home.
Maintain close contact with the Home Manager and refer all problems to the administrator.
Be aware of resident’s rights and honor those rights.
Follow scheduled activities.
Participation in In-Service Training and other conferences related to assigned duties is mandatory.
Responsible for care and development of residents.
Transport residents to and from support center, shopping trips, recreational activities and other events.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Must be a high school graduate and/or 18 years of age or older .
Must have a valid driver’s licenses.
Must have a copy of driving record
Must have a copy of Social Security Card
Must Pass Drug Screening
Must Have Criminal Background Check
Must have work experience with the atypical populations; preferably the individual with special needs, seizure disorder, and/or developmental disabilities But Willing to Train
Must be in good physical, mental, and emotional health.
Must be willing to improve abilities by taking suitable courses offered in the local community and attending workshops related to the management of homes and training of the special need individual.
CORE COMPETENICES REQUIRED FOR DIRECT CARE STAFFS:
All training programs shall be provided, and at a minimum, shall consist of the following:
NCI
Medication Administration
General organizational orientation;
Training on client rights and confidentiality
Training to meet needs of the client as specified in the Individual Program Plan;
Training in infectious control diseases and blood borne pathogens.
CPR/1st AID
The governing body shall develop and implement policies and procedures for identifying, reporting, investigating, and controlling infectious and communicable diseases of personnel and consumers.
Direct Care Staff shall be supervised by Home Manager and Qualified Professional
There shall be no privileging requirements for Direct Care Staff.
Direct Care Staff shall demonstrate knowledge, skills and abilities required by the population served.
At such time as competency-based employment system is established by rule making, then qualified professionals and associate professionals shall demonstrate competence.
Competence shall be demonstrated by exhibiting core skills including: a) Technical Knowledge b) Cultural Awareness c) Analytical skills d) Decision Making e) Interpersonal skills f) Communication skills g) Clinical skills

Schedule:
- 6Hour or 12 Hour Shift. 2:30PM -8:00PM , 8:00PM -8:00AM
- 8:00AM-8:00PM only on weekend and when there is no school
Ability to commute/relocate:
- Spring Lake or Autryville , NC: Reliably commute or planning to relocate before starting work (Preferred)
