Job Summary
Since 1978 the physicians, psychologists, social workers and counselors of Virginia South Psychiatric & Family Services have been providing individuals and families with psychiatric, substance abuse and mental health treatment that is tailored to the individual’s needs.
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate inpatient Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP-BC) to join our healthcare team. Requires current Virginia license as a Nurse Practitioner with board certification in psychiatric nursing and at least five years of experience. Minimum of one weekend per month, inpatient experience is a plus. Opportunity available in Petersburg at a free standing psychiatric hospital. Salary starts at $12,000/month guaranteed minimum for first six months, on productivity basis following this period, if candidate has requisite qualifications as mentioned above.
The ideal candidate will provide high-quality mental health care to patients, including assessment, diagnosis, and treatment planning. This role requires a strong understanding of psychiatric disorders and the ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team.
Duties
- Develop and implement individualized treatment plans based on clinical findings and patient needs.
- Provide medication management, including prescribing, monitoring, and adjusting medications as necessary.
- Maintain compliance with HIPAA regulations to protect patient confidentiality and privacy.
- Collaborate with other healthcare professionals within the clinic or hospital setting to ensure comprehensive patient care.
- Educate patients and families about mental health conditions, treatment options, and coping strategies.
Requirements
- Master’s degree in Nursing with a specialization in Psychiatry or Mental Health.
- Current licensure as a Nurse Practitioner with board certification in psychiatric nursing.
- Knowledge of HIPAA regulations and commitment to maintaining patient confidentiality.
- Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to build rapport with patients and families.
- Ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team environment while demonstrating leadership qualities.
