About You :

The Space Force's Space Systems Command (SSC) and Air Force Office of Scientific Research (AFOSR) have partnered with the Virginia Tech Applied Research Corporation (VT-ARC) to establish the Innovation Hub at Garden of the Gods. The Innovation Hub offers a suite of services in a collaborative environment to bring government, academic, FFRDC, and industry personnel together. This collaborative initiative supports the U.S. Space Force's and SSC's vision to deliver commercial space capabilities to support global mission priorities and joint warfighters. Level up your data analytics and project coordination skillsets by learning and engaging in a variety of tasks that support our mission under the supervision of our Senior Data Scientist.

In this paid internship, you will gain knowledge and experience working with data-driven tools, applications, and processes on behalf of teams working in the space domain, exposure to real-world problems being worked on in the Air Force, Space Force, and DoD domains, and networking and expert talks with members of industry, government, and academia.

Duties / Responsibilities :

• Support users from government and academia for administrative needs and provisioning AWS resources.
• Connect with client team leads, gather requirements, and draft status reports.
• Research cutting-edge data science techniques and tools in the space domain.
• Manage stakeholder calendars to ensure minimal conflicts and ensure client staff are aware of events and meetings.
• Organize, manage, and follow through to completion of administrative tasks from higher echelon organizations, external requests for information, and general accountable administrative requirements.
• Communicate on behalf of the client teams and VT-ARC to organize and document analytic and resource needs
• Monitor organizational email inbox for tasks to client team personnel, highlight important or urgent messages, and be the first point of contact for external correspondence.
• Help maintain client Confluence pages, document archives, and communications, and update as required.
• Some maintenance of lab laptops and 3D printers.
