Job Description
Reporting to the Assistant Finance Director, the Capital Purchasing and Finance Coordinator will serve as a liaison between the Capital Project Managers, Facilities and other University Departments. This position is responsible for researching and posting all Purchase Order requests and invoices related to Capital Projects. The Coordinator will also ensure compliance with prompt pay and other University guidelines. This position requires analytical skills ensuring any Capital Project Manager payment request aligns with the overall capital project budget. Provides support to the Assistant Director of Finance for Capital Operation when necessary to reconcile complex capital project budgets between HokieServ and Banner. Assists with capital project budget research when issues arise regarding capital expenditures and the appropriateness of the expenditures. Assist, as necessary, with all capital project accounting reconciliations, post Maintenance Reserve budget entries in Banner, and develop other Ad Hoc Capital Construction reports, as necessary.

Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting, Business, Finance, Management or related field or training and experience equivalent to a bachelor’s degree.
- Strong analytical and critical thinking skills, as well as business and technical acumen.
- Administrative, program support, or fiscal experience in a professional office environment that includes processing invoices, as well as reconciling and verifying documents to ensure accuracy, organizing, coordinating, and scheduling.
- Previous customer service experience with a strong commitment to meeting the needs of both external and internal customers.
- Demonstrated proficiency with a variety of computer functions such as data entry, word processing, and spreadsheets, etc.
- Excellent organizational, time management, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Demonstrates strong presentation and communication skills.
- Ability to perform repetitive tasks with minimal supervision required.
- Master's degree in related fields such as business administration or accounting.
- Experience with accounts payable and purchasing/procurement.
- Experience utilizing automated work order systems such as Asset Works.
- Experience with Banner Financial System or a similar system.
- Experience with automated accounting/billing/purchasing systems such as HokieMart and HokieServ.
- Strong experience utilizing Microsoft Word and Excel.
- Experience with cash handling.
