Job Description
Virginia Tech Pesticide Programs seeks an individual to provide educational support for Virginia pesticide applicators. Major responsibilities include assisting approval of private pesticide applicator recertification training courses, management of website training calendars, entering and tracking recertification training credits, and communicating with pesticide safety trainers and the Virginia Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services, Office of Pesticide Services. The individual will also assist in development and maintenance of online pesticide training courses, coordinate online course enrollment, and provide general program support. The person in this position will abide by all nondiscrimination and civil rights policies of Virginia Cooperative Extension.
Required Qualifications
B.S. degree in Agriculture, Life, or Environmental Sciences; or, equivalent years of training and experience; Proficiency with Microsoft Office suite of programs, Canvas, and video presentation software; Excellent oral and written communication skills, and demonstrated track record in development of online educational training materials; Strong work habits and the ability to work independently as well as with a group; Strong organizational skills, and ability to re-prioritize tasks as demands for resources and information vary; Initiative and problem-solving skills to identify, gaps in educational knowledge and content; Interest and/or experience in working effectively with a diverse clientele.
Preferred Qualifications
M.S. degree in Agriculture, Life, or Environmental Sciences; Experience working or volunteering in pesticide safety education programs.
