The Audio/Video Technician is responsible for supporting the university’s multimedia technology needs across campus. This position plays a vital role in setting up, operating, maintaining, and troubleshooting audio and video equipment for academic courses, campus events, special presentations, and university-wide ceremonies.
Responsibilities
- Set up, operate, and maintain audio/video systems including microphones, projectors, speakers, recording devices, and video conferencing tools.
- Provide on-site A/V support for academic classes, university meetings, conferences, special events, and live-streamed programs.
- Ensure proper installation, configuration, and testing of multimedia equipment in classrooms, lecture halls, and event venues.
- Support faculty, staff, and students in the use of A/V technology; provide training or quick tutorials as needed.
- Perform regular maintenance, upgrades, and inspections of A/V systems to ensure functionality and quality.
- Troubleshoot A/V issues in real time and provide immediate solutions to minimize disruptions.
- Collaborate with IT staff and event coordinators to ensure all technical requirements are met for campus events.
- Assist with the production of multimedia content including video editing, captioning, and format conversion.
- Maintain inventory of A/V equipment, cables, and accessories; track repairs and replacements.
- Stay current with emerging A/V technologies and recommend enhancements to improve university multimedia capabilities.
Education
- Associate’s degree in Audio/Video Technology, Communications, Information Technology, or a related field; equivalent experience may be considered.
- Minimum of 2 years of hands-on A/V experience in a professional or educational setting.
- Proficiency with a wide range of A/V equipment and software (e.g., soundboards, projectors, cameras, streaming platforms).
- Must be able to lift 15 pounds.
