The Director of Academic Support Services provides strategic leadership and oversight for programs designed to enhance student academic success, retention, and degree completion. This position is responsible for developing, implementing, and assessing support initiatives, including tutoring, academic coaching, supplemental instruction, and learning assistance programs. The Director works collaboratively with faculty, student affairs, and university leadership to create an inclusive and supportive learning environment that promotes student achievement.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and implement comprehensive academic support services that enhance student retention and graduation rates.
- Oversee tutoring, supplemental instruction, academic coaching, and study skills workshops.
- Design and implement intervention strategies for at-risk students, including early alert systems and personalized academic support plans.
- Work closely with academic advisors, career services, and student affairs to provide holistic student support.
- Monitor and analyze student performance data to assess the effectiveness of academic support programs.
- Generate reports on student retention, progression, and academic success metrics for institutional leadership.
- Identify and pursue funding opportunities, including grants and sponsorships, to expand academic support initiatives.
- Oversee hiring, training, and supervision of tutoring staff, peer mentors, and academic coaches.
- Promote academic support services through targeted marketing campaigns, workshops, and orientation programs.
- Represent the university at conferences and professional organizations related to student success and academic support.
Education
- Master’s degree in Education, Higher Education Administration, Student Affairs, or a related field (Doctorate preferred).
- Minimum 5-7 years of experience in academic support, student success, or higher education administration.
- Must be able to lift 10 pounds.
