The Director of Facilities Management is responsible for the management of the University's buildings, facilities, and grounds. The Director coordinates the delivery of essential facility maintenance and custodial services, ensuring compliance with health, life safety, and building codes, recommending priorities for needed repairs and renovations, and directs the development of contingency plans for extraordinary grounds and maintenance efforts under emergency conditions.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee the daily operations of campus facilities, including maintenance, custodial services, groundskeeping, and energy management
- Manage capital improvement projects, renovations, and new construction initiatives to enhance campus infrastructure.
- Develop and manage the facilities budget, ensuring efficient allocation of resources for maintenance, upgrades, and sustainability initiatives.
- Develop and maintain emergency response and disaster recovery plans for campus facilities.
- Lead and manage facilities teams, including hiring, training, and performance evaluation of staff.
- Inspect buildings’ structures to determine the need for repairs or renovations.
- Direct and plan essential central services such as reception, security, maintenance, mail, archiving, cleaning, waste disposal and recycling.
Education
- Bachelor’s degree in Facilities Management, Engineering, Business Administration, or a related field (Master’s degree preferred).
- 3-5 years of progressive leadership experience
- preferably in higher education or a similar institutional setting.
- Must be able to lift 10 pounds.
