Responsibilities:
- Responsible for the cleaning and sterilization of instruments for surgical procedures.
- Maintains logbooks on equipment used in central sterile. Maintains clean environment in central sterile room and remains stocked with items needed on daily basis.
Job duties:
- Keep central sterile environment clean and organized.
- Assist manager in ordering supplies when par levels are low.
- Work with equipment representatives to get in loaner equipment, to repair equipment, and communicate with managers on status.
- Maintain instrument inventory.
- Assist with in-services specifically for the Central Sterile department.
- Update any changes with Count sheets for instrument trays.
- Assist manager with PPE requirements for CS.
- Assist in restocking items when stock items arrive.
- Clean dirty instruments.
- Wrap clean instruments and prepare for sterilization
- Sterilize items via; Autoclave, Steris or Cidex.
- Maintain logbooks for Autoclave, Steris or Cidex sterilization; this includes Biological indicators for each.
- Assist in cleaning and sterilizing anesthesia equipment, i.e. LMA, PAPR, Glidescope, and masks.
- Option to maintain CPR certification if interested—not mandatory for CST.
Working conditions:
The individual performing this job may reasonably anticipate coming into contact with human blood and other potentially infectious materials. Individuals in this position are required to use universal precautions, use personal protective equipment and devices when applicable, and learn and abide by the policies related to safety and infection control.
