Virginia Western is located on a 70-acre campus in southwest Roanoke, VA. The service region of the College includes Roanoke, Salem, Roanoke County, Craig County, Franklin County, and southern Botetourt County. The College was established in 1966 and has grown from an initial enrollment of 1,352 to its current annual enrollment of over 9,000 students in credit courses and more than 1,400
enrollments in fast-track workforce and continuing education courses.
Virginia Western Community College is accepting applications for a full-time, restricted Community College Access Program (CCAP) Outreach and Engagement Coordinator position within the Educational Foundation. The CCAP Outreach and Engagement Coordinator supports the college mission by developing and executing outreach and recruitment strategies, as well as helping Roanoke City high school students apply to the program, apply to the college and complete financial aid applications in a timely manner. The Coordinator further connects with the applicant’s family/guardians, as needed, to ensure successful completion of the FAFSA/VASA in time to receive CCAP and other Foundation scholarship funding. This position serves as an advocate for Roanoke City students during the enrollment and onboarding process. The position coordinates college initiatives designed to promote Virginia Western in Roanoke City. To increase outreach and enhance student services, the Coordinator also translates public-facing application and recruitment materials into Spanish and assists Chapman Hall advising staff with translation services, when available.
May be required to perform other duties as assigned. May be required to assist the agency or state government generally in the event of an emergency declaration by the Governor.
