Reporting to the VP, Market Access, the Director, Payer Marketing will be responsible for developing and executing comprehensive marketing strategies targeted at health plans, PBM’s, state Medicaid’s, infusion centers, and other key stakeholders. This role requires a deep understanding of payer dynamics, market access, and the healthcare landscape to effectively position our brand(s). The ideal candidate will have a proven track record in payer marketing, strong leadership skills, and the ability to work cross-functionally with various departments, including National Accounts, Field Reimbursement, Patient Services, Sales, Marketing, Medical, Regulatory and Legal.


This role is based in our Waltham, MA headquarters. Our office-based employees are required to work in the office three (3) days a week.


Responsibilities (including, but not limited to):

  • Develop and implement payer marketing and reimbursement strategies to support engagement between Viridian teams and key stakeholders
  • Identify key payer segments and tailor marketing initiatives to address their needs to facilitate favorable access
  • Conduct thorough market research and analysis to understand payer trends, competitive landscape, and regulatory changes. Utilize insights to drive strategic decisions and optimize marketing efforts
  • Design and execute payer-focused marketing campaigns, including content creation, messaging, and promotional tactics. Ensure campaigns effectively communicate the value proposition of our brands
  • Understand key market trends and changes in health care delivery to develop market insights critical to value and access strategy and communication
  • Build materials and resources to support internal Viridian teams to support payer engagement and decision making in collaboration with internal teams
  • Work closely with sales, marketing, and clinical teams to ensure alignment of marketing strategies with product offerings and market needs
  • Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of payer marketing initiatives. Use data and analytics to measure performance, identify areas for improvement, and adjust strategies as needed.
  • Oversee the payer marketing budget, ensuring efficient allocation of resources and adherence to financial targets

Qualifications:

  • 7 years of biopharmaceutical experience, including payer marketing strategy development/tactical implementation, reimbursement team support and field sales engagement
  • Bachelor’s degree required
  • MBA preferred
  • Experience managing resource development, submission and review through the MLR process.
  • Proven track record of developing, executing and monitoring successful market access marketing and reimbursement strategies for payers and/or PBM’s
  • Strong understanding of payer dynamics, market access including both the medical and pharmacy benefit and the healthcare landscape
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build relationships and collaborate cross functionally with marketing, account management, sales and patient services.
  • Buy and Bill experience preferred with significant product launch experience.
  • Ability to work effectively in complex, rapidly changing environment while handling multiple tasks
  • Strong commitment to ethical standards
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office suite (i.e., Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Outlook, SharePoint, etc.)
  • Ability to travel up to 25%
  • The salary range for this position is commensurate with experience
