The Senior Director, Business Development & Alliance Management will focus on forming alliances with professional organizations and channel partners and will assume a multifaceted role combining strategic leadership with hands-on business development efforts to enhance organizational growth. This role is designed for a dynamic and strategic individual responsible for driving business growth through developing and managing alliances with professional organizations and channel partners.
Responsibilities
· Lead the development and execution of Viridian’s partnering strategy through a collaborative and data-driven approach
· Drive execution of Viridian’s full life cycle of partnering activities in close collaboration with cross-functional teams, the CBO, and the executive team, including lead generation, due diligence, term sheet structuring and negotiations, contracting, and closing transactions
· Drive the structuring and negotiation of term sheets and other transactions concerning potential collaborations, licensing, M&A, and other BD needs
· Lead the evaluation of potential deals including scientific/portfolio rationale, market opportunity assessment, NPV modeling, comparable deals, competitive landscape analysis, and evaluation of business fit, in collaboration with cross-functional teams (e.g., R&D, IP, Legal, Finance, CMC, Regulatory, Commercial)
· Lead the management of key strategic alliances, in collaboration with Program Management, to advance Viridian’s business and portfolio goals
· Take responsibility for alliance team interactions and governance across functions to ensure robust strategic discussions, aligned execution, and effective decision-making; manage Viridian’s contractual obligations
· Proactively identify issues, potential conflicts, and risks within Viridian’s alliances and work with the team to mitigate and/or drive resolution
· Present analyses and recommendations to executive leadership and board
· Cultivate a strong and effective partnership with Viridian functional and leadership teams to support the achievement of corporate goals through strategic partnering and alliance management
Requirements
· 10 years of relevant experience in the biotechnology industry
· Bachelor’s degree in the sciences required, advanced degrees (MS, PhD, MBA, MD) preferred
· Superb business and financial acumen and ability to solve problems in a fast-moving development-stage biotech
· A collaborative problem-solving mindset – creative, results-oriented, hands-on, with a “let’s get it done” attitude
· Proven track record of forming successful partnerships as shown in a robust deal sheet
· Excellent verbal and written communication skills, relationship management skills
· Adaptability and flexibility to changing priorities in a fast-paced environment
Viridian offers a flexible work environment. This position is a hybrid work model based out of our Waltham, MA office. Travel to sites and meetings is required.
