Reports to : Purchasing Manager

Department : Warehouse

Status : Hourly / Non-Exempt

Shift : 7am-4 : 30pm Monday -Thursday, 7am-11am Friday

The Shipping Clerk is responsible for coordinating and managing the shipping and receiving of goods. This role involves preparing and processing shipments, maintaining accurate records, and ensuring that all shipping procedures are followed to meet company standards and customer expectations.

Essential functions of the job :

Prepare and package products for shipment according to company standards and customer requirements.
Label packages accurately, including shipping labels, barcodes, and handling instructions.
Ensure that all items are correctly packed and protected for transit.
Generate and verify shipping documents such as packing slips, bills of lading, and shipping manifests.
Coordinate with shipping carriers and transportation providers to arrange for pick-up and delivery of shipment.
Maintain knowledge of shipping procedures for various carriers (e.g., UPS, FedEx, DHL, etc.).
Maintain accurate records of shipments, including tracking information and delivery confirmations.
Update inventory systems and databases with shipping and receiving details.
Ensure shipping area is well-organized and free of hazards.
Address any shipping issues or customer inquiries regarding delivery status.
Resolve shipping discrepancies or damages with customers or vendors.
Ensure compliance with shipping regulations and standards.

Management reserves the right to change these duties at any time.

Required knowledge, skills, and abilities :

Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to work effectively as a team player.

Proficiency with shipping software, inventory management systems, and basic office software (e.g., Microsoft Office).

Strong organizational skills with attention to detail.

Ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously and work effectively in a fast-paced environment.

Good communication skills and a customer-focused attitude.

Must be able to work under pressure to meet deadlines.

Required education and experience :

High School diploma or General Education degree (GED) preferred, or 6 or more months of related work experience.

Previous experience in shipping, receiving, or logistics is advantageous.

A description of the physical demands

Ability to lift, push and pull up to 70 pounds.

Prolonged periods of standing, walking, and handling packages.
