Summary:
Directs, plans and manages day to day operations, systems, and projects for the Enterprise Computing Team. Responsible for the Enterprise server, storage, desktop engineering and security teams; reviews, plans, designs, evaluates and monitors enterprise computing systems. Analyzes systems and recommends improvements to systems and processes. Provides strategic and tactical input on planning and related projects. Provide technical, strategic planning, strategic support to the Director of Technology. Maintains a cross discipline staff training regimen to assure adequate talent is available to support production systems and projects. Leads and sets goals for engineering and analyst staff while being responsible for lights-on operations of the enterprise computing infrastructure.
Position Responsibilities:
Manages the server, storage, desktop engineering and security teams providing appropriate staffing to ensure workflow optimization, accurate documentation, timely problem resolution, and customer communication. Intervenes when needed to enhance or recover service delivery. Delegates or leads upgrades and projects. Manages escalation of open calls and tickets. Oversees responses to security incidents and assists in resolution where applicable. Responsible for project timelines and call/work order queues.
Provides leadership and guidance, coaches, trains, develops and holds accountable departmental staff, resulting in well-trained, reliable, customer service-oriented employees. Performs assessments of work; creates commitment and ownership within team by encouraging responsibility, recognizing achievements, setting goals, priorities and delegating with clear expectations. Develops staff and self in accordance with Virtua’s mission and values. Keeps current in trends, participates in professional development and encourages staff participation. Develops and implements staff education plans.
Manages budget as it relates to area of responsibility includes processing of invoices, requisitions and Purchase Orders
Identifies, supports, uses technologies and methods to maximize performance within the team and IS that will enhance the value provided by IS to support the overall Virtua initiatives and workflow process; serves as the IS Liaison to the customer base; provides research and development for new computing devices and sets standards. Maintains, updates, and creates workflows and methodologies to support tasks within the department.
Supports projects by collaborating with IS Management, Project Managers & Leads for resource planning, matching staff skills set with project requirements. Manages staff task conflict and difficult personnel issues; reviews project status, staff project task completion and provide input to update; address project staff/team issues as appropriate; enforce policies/procedures for staff's adherence to the use of team templates and project documentation; supports transition to support.
Works constructively with vendors and IT partners to ensure on-going service and resolution of issues; participates in vendor contract review and negotiation; establishes and manages equipment and repair vendor relationships to ensure the best service value for Virtua.
Adheres to IS Business Practices and available for 24/7 support as needed.
Position Qualifications Required / Experience Required:
Minimum of 5 years’ Information Services management experience or equivalent.
Must be knowledgeable regarding the business of health care, the flows of information and emerging technologies.
Must be able to function autonomously and as part of a team.
Must be able to deal with ambiguity and multiple priorities in a busy decentralized multi-entity environment.
Must be an excellent role model and service provider with a commitment to quality, with the ability to convey confidence in the IS function and provide leadership and mentoring to staff.
Must have excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills. Strong organizational and planning skills necessary.
Must be an excellent service provider with a true quality commitment, transmit confidence in the IS function, and provide the necessary leadership to develop the IS Staff.
Required Education:
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Cybersecurity Engineering, related degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.
