This LITERACY INTERVENTION position requires a 5-12 Reading Endorsement on a valid Iowa Teaching License.
Update: This position is HALF-TIME, with the final schedule to be determined in collaboration between Virtual Campus leadership and the teacher hired.
TITLE: High School Literacy Interventionist (Title I)

DAYS: 195 or 199 Day Contract HOURS: 7.75
BASIC FUNCTION:
The academic interventionist serves students in a Title I Target and Schoolwide program with targeted reasons for at risk students for tiered support within the school’s MTSS. This position requires continuous use of independent judgment. The essential functions as shown below represent only the key areas of responsibility; specific position requirements will vary depending on the needs of the teaching and learning department.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Coordinate and provide strategic supplemental academic instruction to meet the individual needs of students.
- Identify students in need of supplemental interventions to support core instruction.
- Collaborate with classroom teachers, PLCs, administration, and families to identify best practices for individual and small groups of students.
- Plan and teach interventions based on the learning needs of students using high quality materials based in research and aligned to the Science of Reading.
- Uses data to provide instruction to students and support access to core instruction, including foundational skill building and just-in-time learning tied to core standards.
- Monitor student learning daily. Use multiple data points to guide group and individualized instruction.
- Ensure intervention sequence aligns with classroom instruction and building MTSS.
- Document interventions in Panorama Students success and record monitoring data there. Use graphs and progress monitoring data to make instructional decisions.
- Participate in professional learning communities, literacy training for staff, and ongoing professional development opportunities for Interventionists.
- Assist in the planning and implementation of building professional development.
- Communicate with families on a regular basis.
- Demonstrate consistent progress on meeting the eight Iowa Teaching Standards
- Attend appropriate PLCs as stated by building administration to coordinate interventions and support.
- Reports holistic and aggregated data on student progress in intervention during building quarterly reviews.

HIRING SPECIFICATIONS:
Required:
- 5-12 English Language Arts endorsement
- Experience with data literacy and ability to analyze and report data
- Experience leading professional development or experience as a PLC lead
- Experience in planning, implementing, and integrating supports for tiered intervention needs
