DMPS is looking for a High School English Teacher and Reading Interventionist for the following location:
- Virtual Campus
This position will teach English and provide Reading Intervention. Ideal candidates will have both a 5-12 English endorsement and a 5-12 Reading endorsement. This position is 30% funded by Title I. Title I funds are subject to available each year.

HIRING SPECIFICATIONS:
Required:
- Valid Iowa teaching license (w/ K-8, 6-8, or 5-12 Mathematics endorsement).
- Knowledge of subject, curriculum, effective teaching methods.
- Demonstrated effectiveness in oral and written communications.
Desired:
- Previous classroom teaching experience.
- Experience in an urban school district.
BASIC FUNCTION:
Responsible for planning and delivering a high-quality educational program to meet children’s academic and social-emotional needs.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Deliver daily lessons, aligned to state and district standards that meet students’ individual needs and ensure growth.
- Create a culturally inclusive classroom that meets the academic and social emotional needs of students.
- Participate in building and district professional learning communities to plan for instruction, analyze data, and create assessments.
- Monitor student learning on a daily basis. Use multiple data points to guide and individualize instruction.
- Communicate with families on a regular basis.
- Participate in professional development.
- Demonstrate consistent progress on meeting the eight Iowa Teaching Standards
ADDITIONAL ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS (for every DMPS position):
- Attend work on a prompt and regular basis.
- Maintain confidentiality.
- Maintain satisfactory and harmonious working relationships with the public, students, and other employees.
- Assist with other duties as may be assigned.

FT/PT: Full Time (7.75 hour day), (Contract days vary by assignment)
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: Standing, walking, sitting, bending/stooping, reaching/pushing/pulling, lifting carrying
WORKING CONDITIONS: Mostly indoors with some outdoor responsibilities during recess and arrival/dismissal
