Reports to: Site Directors
Primary Location: Virtual Campus / Online
Qualifications: - Master’s Degree or higher with valid Georgia counselor certificate.
- High school counseling experience required.
- Must understand all Georgia high school graduation requirements.
- Ability to communicate effectively with all stakeholders in the virtual instruction program in written and oral form, including electronic media, using positive interpersonal skills.
- Experience with a virtual learning environment preferred.
- This position requires availability from 4:00pm – 9:00pm.
Job Responsibilities:
- Collaborate with Regional Student Services Coordinator to train Virtual Campus staff to monitor the academic performance, attendance, social-emotional and behavioral concerns of their assigned student advisees.
- Assign an advisor to every full-time Foothills Virtual student.
- Send weekly emails to advisors with information they need to convey to their advisees.
- Monitor advisor performance by reviewing documentation from contact logs.
- Meet with teacher advisors to discuss student contacts, parent contacts, progress toward academic goals, any needed student referrals to Social Worker, Counselor, or Career Specialist.
- Understand academic plan expectations to help advisors know how to monitor adequate progress towards course completion goals.
- Assure accurate, frequent data is entered into the contact logs in Infinite Campus.
- Provide advice regarding building of strong relationships with advisee, available resources, and appropriate boundaries and confidentiality.
- Attend and participate in monthly Student Services Meetings as part of the site student services team.
- Make SWARM concerns to social worker as needed based on advisor feedback.
- Work closely with Counselor, Social Worker, Career Specialist, or other staff to develop and support on-going Drop-Out Prevention and Drop-Out Recovery programs.
- Serve as a liaison for advisors who follow up with recent graduates to communicate needs for additional transition support to Career Specialist and Regional Student Services Coordinator.
- Collaborate with other student services staff (Career Specialist, Counselor, Social Worker, Student Services Manager) to plan and implement activities to meet student needs and site goals. Activities may include Senior Night; College Night; Career Night; FTE Nights; Financial Aid Workshops; FAFSA Workshops; Job Information Workshops; Dual Enrollment Night.
- Read Foothills emails in a timely manner.
- Participate in professional development activities to improve knowledge and skills.
- Communicate needs to Site Directors and prepare data as requested.
- Communicate program progress with Site Administrators on a regular basis.
- Meet the performance and behavioral expectations of the Site Director.
- Comply with all FERPA requirements for the virtual environment.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Site Director.
