What are the responsibilities and job description for the Secondary Resource Room Teacher/Interventionist position at Virtual Learning Academy of St. Clair County?
POSITION SUMMARY:
This resource room teacher is responsible for supporting students with diverse learning needs and offering specially designed instruction to caseload students. Additional intervention supports will be provided to both general education and special education students in an effort to minimize academic barriers and assist students in making adequate academic progress.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor’s degree.
- Valid Michigan teaching certificate with Special Education Endorsement in CI, LD or EI.
- Must have a valid Michigan driver’s license.
- Experience working with students with diverse learning needs.
- Experience working with secondary at-risk learners.
- Patience, empathy, and a genuine commitment to the success of students with special needs.
ESSENTIAL JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Maintain flexible weekly hours including online and in-person supports and services.
2. Support special education caseload students with IEP goals.
3. Plan and conduct activities for students in the classroom.
4. Prepare, present and maintain assessment evaluation of the IEP progress of students.
5. Write IEP’s and monitor compliance of the IEP implementation process.
6. Responsible for conducting IEP meetings.
7. Maintain cooperative relationships with all VLA staff including administration, teacher mentors and support staff.
8. Assist students in-building and through remote (chat site) mentoring and targeted tutoring in online coursework across all content areas.
9. Identify student at-risk barriers that might be hindering academic progress and determine and develop ways to minimize those barriers.
10. Work with families, students and staff to build and implement individualized academic intervention plans.

Pay: $58,000.00 - $63,000.00 per year
