Opportunity:
VSO is seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Tier 2 - NOC Network Analyst II to join our growing team in Lorton, Virginia. This role is ideal for individuals with foundational network operations experience who are ready to tackle more complex issues and contribute to maintaining a secure and efficient network environment.
Responsibilities:
- Investigate and resolve escalated network issues from Tier 1 support.
- Perform advanced troubleshooting for routers, switches, firewalls, and other network devices.
- Conduct in-depth network performance analysis and provide solutions to optimize performance.
- Collaborate with carriers and external vendors to resolve connectivity problems and manage network capacity.
- Implement network configurations, updates, and changes as needed.
- Assist in maintaining and enhancing network security protocols and practices.
- Maintain accurate network documentation, including diagrams, configurations, and incident reports.
- Provide technical guidance and mentorship to Tier 1 NOC Analysts.
- Participate in on-call rotations and respond to network incidents outside normal business hours.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science, information technology, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
- 3 years of experience in a network operations or technical support role.
- Understanding of networking concepts, including TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, VLANs, and routing protocols (e.g., BGP, OSPF).
- Experience with network monitoring tools such as SolarWinds, PRTG, or similar.
- Familiarity with network security principles, including firewalls, VPNs, and intrusion detection systems.
- Hands-on experience configuring and troubleshooting network devices from vendors like Cisco, Juniper, or similar.
- Analytical mindset with strong problem-solving skills.
- Effective communication skills, both verbal and written.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Certifications such as CompTIA Network , CCNA, or equivalent.
- Experience with cloud networking concepts, including Azure Networking.
- Familiarity with IT service management (ITSM) processes.
Requirements
- Must be within driving distance of Lorton, VA, or willing to relocate.
- Must be willing to work onsite.
- Must have an active Top Secret (TS) security clearance.
- Must be willing to work non-standard hours, including on-call duties.
- Must meet DoD 8570 IAT Level II certification requirements (e.g., Security CE, CCNA Security, etc.).
