What are the responsibilities and job description for the Graph Database Engineer position at Virtual?
Vaco is partnering with an enterprise client to support a data modernization effort that will leverage graph-based data solutions to enhance customer experiences. They are building a personalization engine to improve customer recommendations and decision-making through graph analysis. To support this effort, they need a Data Engineer to design, optimize, and scale graph database solutions that integrate with enterprise systems.
Responsibilities :
Develop and maintain graph database models, ensuring scalability and efficiency.
Optimize graph queries and structures to support real-time personalization and recommendation systems.
Design and implement Cypher queries for complex data relationships and business use cases.
Work closely with data scientists, analysts, and engineers to integrate graph-based insights into operational applications.
Enhance personalization algorithms, leveraging graph structures to improve data-driven decision-making.
Qualifications :
5 years of experience as a data engineer or backend software engineer
Hands on experience with graph databases (e.g., TigerGraph, ArangoDB, Amazon Neptune, etc.)
Strong understanding of graph theory, data modeling, and relationship-based architectures.
Experience with query optimization and performance tuning for large graph datasets.
Proficiency in Python, JavaScript, or JVM languages (Scala, Kotlin, Clojure, Java) commonly used in modern data engineering.
Experience integrating graph databases into enterprise systems or cloud-based data environments.
Understanding of data pipelines, ETL processes, and streaming architectures.
Preferred Experience :
Background in personalization engines, recommendation systems, or knowledge graphs.
Experience with Kafka, Spark, REST APIs, or other real-time data processing tools.
Knowledge of data visualization tools for graph analytics (e.g., Neo4j Bloom, GraphX, or Gephi).
Certification in Neo4j or similar graph DB technologies
