Vaco is hiring an experienced RPG Programmer for a full-time role with our client in downtown Cincinnati.
This role offers 1 day a week to work from home and 4 days a week onsite.
- Applicants need to be local to Cincinnati, OH.
The ideal candidate will have a minimum of 10 years of experience in RPG development, along with expertise in the VAI S2K platform, database administration, and reporting / analytics.
Experience with VAI Warehouse Management Systems and analytics reporting is a plus.
This role is integral to the development and support of critical systems within the manufacturing and distribution industry.
Key Duties and Responsibilities :
Develop and maintenance applications in RPG
Develop and maintain reporting and analytics solutions for business stakeholders, including custom reports and data extraction tools
Troubleshoot iSeries program errors, messages, and alerts
Collaborates with business and IT leadership to automate and / or optimize business processes
Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams to gather requirements and deliver software solutions that meet business needs
Works directly with the ERP vendor (S2K) on support and development initiatives
Testing and validation of IBM Power Systems software updates
Supports month and year end procedures and processing
Continuously improve system functionality and performance, troubleshooting and resolving issues as they arise
Support the manufacturing and distribution operations with software solutions that enhance business processes
Provide guidance on best practices and ensure compliance with company policies and industry standards
Performs other related duties as required or as requested by the ERP Manager
Required Skills and Experience :
A bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Systems, or a related field.
At least 10 years of RPG development experience
Experience in VAI S2k ERP preferred but not required
Excellent problem-solving skills
Excellent communication skills, written and verbal
Knowledge or understanding of how IBM iSeries applications work; Exposure to application components : UI, server architecture, system architecture and databases; Familiar with DB2 database architecture
Strong linear focus : Able to walk through detail for planning and executing a development / ERP solution
Comprehensive understanding of SDLC processes
Ability to translate between technical and non-technical requirements
Ability to organize one’s own activities and manage multiple priorities independently while also working as an active member on a team
Strong analytical skills. Strong attention to detail, well organized.
