Virtus Academy is seeking a passionate and knowledgeable Middle School Social Studies Teacher to join our faculty for the 2025-26 school year. Duties
- Develop and implement lesson plans that align with curriculum standards and engage students in meaningful learning experiences.
- Utilize various teaching methods and styles to accommodate different learning preferences and promote student participation.
- Manage classroom behavior effectively to create a respectful and productive learning environment.
- Conduct assessments to evaluate student progress and provide feedback for improvement.
- Mentor students academically and personally, offering guidance on educational pathways and career options.
- Collaborate with colleagues on interdisciplinary projects and participate in faculty meetings.
- Engage in ongoing research to stay updated on best practices in education and incorporate innovative teaching strategies.
- Provide academic advising to students, helping them navigate their educational journey.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement engaging lesson plans aligned with state standards and Virtus Academy’s curriculum.
- Teach middle school students about history, geography, government, and current events in an interactive and meaningful way.
- Utilize diverse instructional strategies to accommodate various learning styles and abilities.
- Foster a classroom environment that promotes discussion, inquiry, and analytical thinking.
- Assess student progress through formative and summative assessments and provide timely feedback.
- Integrate technology and primary sources to enhance student learning and engagement.
- Collaborate with colleagues to develop interdisciplinary connections and curriculum enhancements.
- Maintain strong communication with students, parents, and colleagues to support student success.
- Participate in professional development, faculty meetings, and school-wide activities.

Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Education, History, Social Studies, or a related field (required).
- Valid teaching certification in Middle Grades Social Studies (or ability to obtain one).
- Prior teaching experience in middle school social studies preferred.
- Strong knowledge of historical concepts, civic education, and instructional best practices.
- Excellent classroom management, communication, and organizational skills.
- Ability to foster a love of learning and critical thinking in students.
