Position Summary:
Virtus Academy is seeking a compassionate and dedicated School Social Worker to provide direct support to students and families, address social-emotional and behavioral challenges, and collaborate with staff to enhance student success. The School Social Worker will play a critical role in promoting a positive school climate and ensuring that students have access to the resources they need to thrive academically and personally.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide counseling and crisis intervention services to students facing social, emotional, and behavioral challenges.
- Conduct assessments to identify students’ needs and develop individualized intervention plans.
- Work closely with teachers, administrators, and parents to support students’ academic and social-emotional well-being.
- Develop and implement programs to enhance students’ social skills, resilience, and mental health awareness.
- Serve as a liaison between the school, families, and community agencies to coordinate support services.
- Advocate for students and families to ensure access to resources such as mental health services, food assistance, and housing support.
- Assist with the development and implementation of behavior management strategies.
- Conduct home visits as necessary to assess family needs and provide additional support.
- Maintain accurate records and documentation in compliance with school policies and confidentiality guidelines.
- Participate in multi-disciplinary team meetings to develop and monitor student intervention plans.
- Provide professional development and training for staff on topics related to trauma-informed care, mental health, and student support services.
Qualifications:
- Education: Master’s degree in Social Work (MSW) from an accredited institution.
- Licensure: Must hold or be eligible for licensure as a School Social Worker in South Carolina. LCSW or LMSW preferred.
- Experience: Prior experience working with children and adolescents in a school or related setting is highly desirable.
- Skills & Competencies:
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively with students, staff, and families.
- Knowledge of crisis intervention, trauma-informed practices, and behavioral management strategies.
- Familiarity with community resources and social services.
- Strong organizational and case management skills.

Pay: $50,000.00 - $70,000.00 per year
