Virtus Healthcare Staffing is seeking a dedicated and experienced Assistant Director of Surgical Services to join our partner, a 100-bed hospital offering a full range of services, including a full-service ER, 6 multi-specialty operating rooms, 10 labor & delivery rooms, a 10-bed ICU, and a 76-bed medical/surgical unit. This is a full-time, day shift position. The Assistant Director will play a vital role in the daily operations of the surgical department, collaborating with the team to ensure smooth and efficient workflows. Position Summary:
The Assistant Director of Surgical Services is responsible for assisting in the oversight of the day-to-day operations of the surgical department. This includes assisting with the supervision of personnel, managing surgical procedures, overseeing the ordering of supplies and equipment, and developing and maintaining effective schedules. The Assistant Director fosters a positive and productive environment while upholding the highest standards of patient care.
Responsibilities:
- Oversees the day-to-day operations of surgical services, ensuring efficient and effective workflows.
- Assists with the supervision and development of surgical staff, promoting a collaborative and high-performing team.
- Manages surgical schedules, optimizing resource utilization and patient flow.
- Collaborates with physicians and other healthcare professionals to ensure seamless patient care.
- Oversees the ordering and management of surgical supplies and equipment, maintaining appropriate inventory levels.
- Implements and enforces policies and procedures to ensure compliance with regulatory standards and best practices.
- Monitors key performance indicators and identifies opportunities for improvement in surgical services.
- Maintains a safe and clean environment within the surgical suite.
- Contributes to the development and implementation of strategic initiatives for surgical services.
- Demonstrates excellent organizational and communication skills, thriving in a fast-paced environment.
- Effectively manages multiple priorities and supervises multiple areas within surgical services.
Qualifications:
- Education:
- Required: Academic degree in nursing.
- Preferred: Master's degree in nursing or a related field (Health Administration, Business, Public Health, or Management).
- Experience:
- Required: 2 years of progressive management experience in a hospital environment as a manager or full-time charge nurse/related position.
- Certifications/Registrations/Licenses:
- Required: Current licensure, certification, or registration to practice profession as required by law, regulation in the state of practice or policy. CPR certification.
