Virtus Healthcare Staffing is seeking a passionate and experienced Clinical Nurse Specialist (CNS) to join the Critical Care team at a leading Level II Adult and Pediatric Trauma Center in Anchorage, Alaska. This is a full-time, day shift position at a hospital with 401 licensed beds. This facility is renowned for its comprehensive services, including a dedicated Children's Hospital, a Maternity Center with the state's only Level III Neonatal Intensive Care Unit, specialized Heart and Cancer Centers, Alaska's largest Emergency Department with LifeMed Alaska air ambulance transport, and comprehensive Behavioral Health Services.

Position Overview:

As a Critical Care Clinical Nurse Specialist, you will play a vital role in elevating the standard of care within the critical care units. Utilizing the Synergy Model, you will act within the nurse-patient, nurse-nurse, and nurse-system spheres to facilitate a multi-disciplinary and collaborative approach to healthcare delivery. You will promote excellence in nursing care through the implementation of clinical standards and establish competency standards for staff members. This role requires advanced clinical knowledge, strong leadership skills, and a dedication to fostering a positive and supportive learning environment.

Responsibilities:

• Act as a clinical expert and resource for nurses and other healthcare professionals in the critical care units, promoting evidence-based practice and best practices in patient care.
• Facilitate a multi-disciplinary and collaborative approach to healthcare delivery, ensuring effective communication and coordination among team members.
• Promote excellence in nursing care through the implementation of clinical standards of practice and establishing competency standards for staff members.
• Develop and implement educational programs and initiatives to enhance the knowledge and skills of nursing staff.
• Participate in quality improvement activities and research projects to advance the care of critically ill patients.
• Advocate for patient safety and quality care within the critical care units and throughout the hospital.
• Stay abreast of the latest advancements in critical care nursing and promote a culture of continuous learning.

Qualifications:

• Education:
  • Master's Degree from a clinical nurse specialist program accredited by the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE) or the National League for Nursing Accrediting Commission (NLNAC). Or
  • Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) from a clinical nurse specialist program accredited by the CCNE or NLNAC.
• Experience: 3 years of Registered Nursing experience in a critical care setting.
• Licensure: Alaska Registered Nurse License upon hire.
• Certifications:
  • BLS - American Heart Association certification upon hire.
  • Current certification as a CNS; certification in the area of specialty is preferred upon hire.
  • Current certification in the area of specialty (e.g., CCRN) upon hire.
