Virtus Healthcare Staffing is seeking a dedicated Neonatal Nurse Practitioner (NNP) to join our partner medical center in Honolulu, HI. This is a full-time, benefitted position offering an exceptional opportunity for an experienced NNP to provide specialized care to newborns in a dynamic and rewarding environment. This position will require some overnight shifts in the hospital.
Responsibilities
- Neonatal Care: Provide comprehensive care to infants, including assessment, diagnosis, treatment, and technical procedures. Manage a caseload of normal-to-high-risk infants, collaborating with physicians as needed.
- Patient Advocacy: Serve as an advocate for patients and families, identifying healthcare needs and coordinating care.
- Resuscitation and Procedures: Perform neonatal resuscitation in the delivery room and neonatal units, including bag-and-mask ventilation, intubation, and emergency medication administration. Conduct specialized procedures on high-risk infants, such as umbilical catheterization, lumbar punctures, and sepsis workups.
- Assessment and Evaluation: Perform physical exams and evaluations on infants in various settings, including the delivery room, neonatal unit, and mother-baby unit.
- Diagnostics and Treatment: Order and interpret lab tests, radiographs, and routine diagnostics. Prescribe phototherapy, antimicrobial therapy, and nutritional support.
- Documentation: Maintain accurate and detailed patient records, including admission histories, physicals, resuscitations, assessments, procedures, progress notes, and discharge summaries.
- Collaboration: Collaborate with attending physicians regarding treatment plans and participate in patient care rounds.
- Leadership and Education: Develop, implement, and revise standards, procedures, and protocols for neonatal care. Provide educational programs for staff and serve as a clinical resource.
- Quality Improvement: Participate in quality improvement initiatives and utilize cost-effective resources.
- Committee Participation: Provide input to hospital committees on planning, policy development, patient care, and quality improvement.
- Education: Master's degree in nursing.
- Experience:
- Minimum two (2) years of experience in neonatal care.
- One (1) year of Nurse Practitioner experience in an acute care setting is preferred.
- Two (2) years of Neonatal NP experience working in the last 2 years is preferred.
- Licensure/Certification:
- Active Registered Nurse License (Hawaii).
- Advanced Practice Registered Nurse License (Hawaii).
- Neonatal Nurse Practitioner Certificate.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) from the American Heart Association.
- National Provider Identifier (NPI).
- Valid Hawaii APRN Recognition with Prescriptive Authority (for Hawaii State APRN prescriptive authority) is preferred.
- Skilled in patient advocacy and possess strong patient assessment skills.
- Demonstrated knowledge and skill in leadership, teaching, interpersonal relations, customer service, problem-solving, and decision-making.
