Location: Downey, CA

Virtus Healthcare Staffing is seeking a dedicated and experienced Infection Preventionist to join our partner medical center in Downey, CA. This role offers an opportunity to contribute your expertise in infection prevention and control, ensuring the safety and well-being of patients, staff, and visitors.

Responsibilities

• Infection Prevention and Control: Assist in implementing and evaluating infection prevention and control programs, policies, and procedures.
• Surveillance: Participate in surveillance activities, including investigations, interviews, and chart reviews, to monitor infection control problems, disease outbreaks, and exposures.
• Data Analysis: Collect and analyze data on infection prevention and control programs to identify trends, areas for improvement, and potential risks.
• Education and Training: Assist in planning, developing, and delivering educational programs for hospital staff and patients on infection prevention and control best practices.
• Occupational Health: Participate in reviewing policies and procedures related to occupational health, ensuring compliance with safety standards and regulations.
• Collaboration: Work collaboratively with the infection prevention team, healthcare professionals, and other departments to promote a safe and healthy environment.
  
  

Qualifications

• Education:
• Master's degree in Nursing, Public Health, Epidemiology, Microbiology, or a related field AND a minimum of two (2) years of healthcare/professional experience, INCLUDING at least one (1) year of experience in patient management, occupational health, clinical rounds, laboratory, public health, or a directly related field.
• OR Bachelor's degree in Nursing, Public Health, Microbiology, or a related field AND a minimum of four (4) years of healthcare/professional experience, INCLUDING at least three (3) years of experience in patient management, occupational health, clinical rounds, laboratory, public health, or a directly related field.
• OR Registered Nurse (RN) License (without a Bachelor's degree) AND a minimum of six (6) years of healthcare/professional experience, INCLUDING at least five (5) years of experience in patient management, occupational health, clinical rounds, laboratory, public health, or a directly related field.
• OR Minimum seven (7) years of experience in patient management, occupational health, clinical rounds, laboratory, public health, or a directly related field.
• Certification: Infection Control Certificate within 24 months of hire.
• Experience: Minimum one (1) year of experience in infection prevention, clinical quality management, or a directly related field.
• Skills:
• Strong knowledge of infection prevention and control principles and practices.
• Ability to collect, analyze, and interpret data.
• Excellent communication, interpersonal, and presentation skills.
• Proficiency in using relevant software and databases.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
