Overview:
We are seeking a skilled and adaptable Registered Nurse (RN) to join our small plastic surgery office. The primary responsibility of this role is to serve as a circulating nurse in the operating room during plastic surgery procedures, ensuring patient safety, maintaining a sterile environment, and supporting the surgical team. In addition to OR duties, the nurse will assist in the clinic with patient care and perform administrative tasks as needed. Required Experience:
· Current Registered Nurse (RN) license in WI.
· BLS (Basic Life Support) certification required; ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) preferred.
· Minimum of 1-2 years of experience as a circulating nurse in an operating room setting (experience in plastic surgery or outpatient surgery preferred but not required).
· Strong knowledge of OR protocols, sterile technique, and surgical workflows.
· Excellent organizational and multitasking skills to manage diverse responsibilities.
· Proficiency with electronic medical records (EMR) systems and basic office software (e.g., Microsoft Office).
· Compassionate bedside manner and ability to communicate effectively with patients and team members.
· Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a small office environment.
· Ability to stand for extended periods, lift up to 25 pounds, and assist with patient positioning as needed.

Duties:
· Act as the circulating nurse during plastic surgery procedures, including preparing the OR, ensuring all instruments and supplies are sterile and available, and verifying patient information.
· Monitor and maintain a sterile field throughout surgical procedures, adhering to infection control protocols.
· Assist the surgical team by providing instruments, supplies, and equipment as needed during procedures.
· Advocate for patient safety by performing pre-operative assessments, confirming consents, and ensuring proper positioning and documentation.
· Manage intraoperative documentation, including surgical counts (e.g., sponges, instruments) and electronic medical records (EMR).
· Coordinate with anesthesia providers and surgeons to ensure seamless patient care during procedures.
· Prepare and label specimens for laboratory analysis as directed.
· Conduct pre- and post-operative patient assessments, including taking vital signs, reviewing medical histories, and providing patient education on procedure preparation and recovery.
· Assist with minor in-office procedures, such as suture removal, dressing changes, or injections under physician supervision.
· Manage patient follow-up appointments, including scheduling, triaging phone calls, and addressing patient concerns.
· Administer medications or treatments as prescribed by the physician.
· Maintain inventory of surgical and clinic supplies, placing orders as needed to ensure adequate stock levels.
· Assist with patient scheduling, check-in, and coordination of care between the OR and clinic.
· Update and maintain accurate patient records in the EMR system, ensuring compliance with HIPAA and office policies.
· Participate in quality improvement initiatives, such as updating protocols or preparing for accreditation reviews.
Position Details:
Location: Waukesha, Wisconsin, United States
Position Type: Full-time
Work week: Monday through Friday, with occasional early mornings or late afternoons depending on surgical and clinic needs. No regular on-call requirement, though flexibility to stay late for procedures may be needed.
Starting wage: Negotiable DOE
Monthly bonus: Based upon performance evaluation and practice profits
